Xander studied sculpture at the Stadsacademie Maastricht and trained as an ironsmith at the Fachhochschule fur Design in Aachen, Germany. He was a visiting teacher at the Jan Van Eijckacademie in Maastricht as well as the Kunstacademie in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
While Xander initially worked with wood and stone, but after studying at the art academy in Maastricht, Xander completed a course in Aachen, where he learned the traditional methods of iron forging. This, in turn, was combined with modern means of working with steel, combining traditional and modern metalworking applications into a new and innovative art form.sold
